Silver jeweler Roberto Ribeiro is excited to introduce his new Winter White collection, as part of Gallery 9’s December featured artist showcase. This new design series shines with a dazzling display of pearls, white topaz, cubic zirconia, and sparkling silver. The intricacy of design and form is evident in Roberto’s signature spirals, curves, and braids, along with stunning new, original snowflake designs. Every clasp, hoop, post and bezel on each piece of jewelry is entirely handmade.
Roberto, born and raised in Brazil, learned the basics of silversmithing over 20 years ago and is guided now by his own experimentation. Original techniques include crafting hand-woven chains on a “knitting spool” using a crochet hook. Roberto is celebrating his 12th winter as a Gallery 9 artist, and his latest work reflects his continuing joy in the creative process.
Sandra Smith-Poling, also a long-time Gallery 9 member, presents recent paintings from Nuuciq Native Spirit Camp and Chenega Bay in Prince William Sound Alaska. Her paintings wonderfully capture the rugged spirit of Alaska, and in balance to the great frontier, also in this show are pieces featuring Port Townsend and European inspirations.
Join Roberto and Sandra as they discuss their art during Gallery Walk, Saturday, December 3, from 5:30 to 8 p.m., at Gallery 9, 1012 Water Street, in Port Townsend just a block from the ferry dock. See gallery-9.com or call 379-8881 for more information.
