Jim Fagiolo – Photographer
Jim has been a professional photographer for twenty eight years. He grew up in the other Washington (D.C.) and moved to New York City when he was twenty to pursue a career in photography, beginning as a photographers assistant in commercial and fashion studios. After five years of apprenticing he opened his first studio in D.C. and in 1981 came out west to open a studio in Seattle where he has worked ever since.Jim now owns and operates a small, successful commercial advertising studio in Seattle’s Pioneer Square specializing in both product still/lifes, and corporate life style portraiture. Besides having worked for many of the major corporations in the Northwest, his work has also been published in such magazines as National Geographic and Vanity Fair. Iin contrast to his commercial work, which has mostly entered the digital age of filmless photography, Jim’s personal work is still captured in the traditional mode: a Wista 4×5 cherrywood camera.
After the final selections are made, technology kicks in. Film is scanned and outputted to make pigmented prints on archival, fine art papers. Photoshop is modestly used for tonal corrections only.
