Meg Kaczyk – Painter
Meg Kaczyk’s paintings capture the aliveness at the heart of being with flowing line, color, texture and pattern, vividly expressed in glossy latex enamel paint.
The subject matter – birds, flowers, figures, urban and travel scenes – presents transient reality interpreted with a quick and keen eye, but above all with love and affection. The world that surrounds us is so precious and this artist celebrates its remarkable diversity and wonder.
Meg’s compositional sources range from painting directly from life to working from epic travel sketchbooks, patterned fabric yardage, vintage bird books, digital snapshots, figurative and still life sketches, and even grainy music videos.
Meg Kaczyk was born in New York, raised in Detroit, and graduated from Kendall School of Design in Grand Rapids, Michigan, with a focus on illustration. Meg then moved westward to Portland, Oregon and has been painting and exhibiting in the Northwest for over 20 years. Continuing studies have included print making at Portland’s NW College of Art. She has taught art workshops to youth and adults, and currently works from her studio in Port Townsend, overlooking the remarkable Discovery Bay and Olympic Mountains.
