Gallery 9 Featured Artist for May, 2016
Linda Lundell presents new oil paintings and cloisonné jewelry in Gallery 9 for the month of May.
Lundell’s show includes several new paintings expressing the nature she sees or imagines. A Port Townsend crow-friend who visits her each morning for meditation and cashews is portrayed. Other new work includes an imaginary portrait of Pan – that allusive forest creature who shepherds forest animals and a red bird landscape that has evolved through many changes – all surrounded by the unusual handmade custom framing Lundell continues to evolve to ever more interesting designs.
The artist is also featuring new cloisonné jewelry, an ancient technique of decorating metalwork objects with vitreous enamel. This is a time-consuming layering process using precious metals to create some of the most impressive jewelry found in Port Townsend. Lundell’s cloisonné and paintings have a similar lush and refined look that reflect high skills and careful attention to detail that have taken her a lifetime to acquire. This is a show not to be missed.
Join Linda Lundell and other gallery artists in discussing their work during Gallery Walk, Saturday, May 7, from5:30 to 8 p.m., at Gallery 9, 1012 Water Street, in Port Townsend. See gallery-9 or call 379-8881 for more information.
