Featured artist Marcy Gordon will be showing new watercolor paintings during the month of April. The new pieces highlight Gordon’s love of botanical illustration, and she tells us, “There is nothing more satisfying to me than to sit in front of a beautiful flower, studying the form and color and then painting what I see.” Gordon began her focus on botanical art over 25 years ago, while studying at the University of Washington. She has taught the style for many years, and is currently offering a class at Port Townsend School of Arts entitled “Botanical Illustration in Watercolor”.
Gordon will also be showing some of her signature barn paintings, which are part of an in-progress series celebrating the history of old barns in the area.
April’s three-dimensional featured artist is Jim Conway, Gallery 9’s newest member. Conway brings a new art form to the gallery mix, presenting wood objects turned on a lathe. Conway’s work features a diverse collection including bowls, platters, goblets, bottle stoppers and unique pens.
Also, during Gallery Walk, we will be celebrating an impressive 13th year as a Port Townsend destination gallery. Come enjoy cake with us, along with the usual wine!
Join Marcy Gordon and Jim Conway in discussing their work during Gallery Walk, Saturday, April 1, from 5:30 to 8 p.m., at Gallery 9, 1012 Water Street, in Port Townsend. See gallery-9.com or call 379-8881 for more information
