Painter Sandra Smith-Poling and silver jeweler Roberto Ribeiro present work that shines with January inspiration.
Brazil-born Ribeiro’s newest collection of earrings, rings and necklaces is themed “Winter White” featuring a palette of pearls, white topaz, cubic zirconia, and sparkling silver. Ribeiro’s original techniques include hand-woven chains wire-crafted on a “knitting spool” using a crochet hook along with his signature spirals, curves, and braids.
Smith-Poling is showcasing work in January that captures several winter scenes from Port Townsend, Germany, England and Alaska. Nuuciq Native Spirit Camp and Chenega Bay in Prince William Sound Alaska are subjects of her most recent paintings, revealing Smith-Poling’s affection for Alaskan culture and the sense of place she embraces from regular working trips she and her husband take there.
Join Sandra and Roberto as they discuss their art during Gallery Walk, Saturday, January 7, from 5:30 to 8 p.m., at Gallery 9, 1012 Water Street, in Port Townsend just a block from the ferry dock. See gallery-9.com or call 379-8881 for more information.
