Gallery 9 is pleased to feature Susan Spar, painter, for the month of December. Spar will be presenting two new stunningly dramatic marine paintings, still lifes and her popular cloud series. A classically trained artist, Spar completed studies at Georgetown Atelier in Seattle, as well as training with other well-known artists around the country.
Spar has been the recipient of many awards and her work resides in permanent public and private collections from Australia to Hong Kong. She creates in both pastels and oils and enjoys subjects from still life and landscape to the figure. Spar states, “I try to engage the viewer in such a way that they can share in my experience of the work’s creation. Still life is a meditative experience while the landscape allows me to participate in both the mystery of nature and it’s grandeur.”
In addition to the new paintings, Spar will also be offering small unframed studies and finished paintings in oils for under $100, in conjunction with Gallery 9’s special “100 under $100” sales event. Browse the entire Gallery for items marked with a bright green dot, indicating a price under $100. The artwork selections will vary from artist to artist and will include discounts, new work and unframed work from their collections.
Join Susan Spar and Tom Stewart in discussing their art during Gallery Walk, Saturday, December 2, from 5:30 to 8 p.m., at Gallery 9, 1012 Water Street, in Port Townsend. Gallery 9 is open daily from 10-6. See gallery-9.com or call 360-379-8881 for more information.
