Tom Stewart, Gallery 9’s 3D featured artist this month, is proud to present his 194th drum during December’s Gallery Walk. The drum is crafted with a finish layer of American red gum, and stands 24 inches high with a 13-inch diameter goat hide head. The tone is a rich deep bass, with excellent rim sounds and sharp slaps.
Stewart forms everything in his shop including the wrench tune-able hardware. Stewart shares, “After 30 years creating Joyful Vibration Hand Drums, I have not lost my passion for building the next one and the next. I get excited when looking at a raw piece of wood, and envisioning what a beautiful drum it will make.”
In addition to hand drums, Stewart also crafts the popular and soothing Zen Gardens, yoga block props and Yin Yang hanging art. Stewart sees his craft as functional artwork that is good for the soul. Come on by during Gallery Walk and experience his craftsmanship for yourself.
Also, remember that now through the end of December, you can enjoy Gallery 9’s “100 under 100” sales event. Browse the Gallery for items marked with a bright green dot, which indicate a price under $100. The artwork selections will vary from artist to artist and includes discounts, new work and unframed work from their collections.
